Traditional Craftsmanship

Ceramics, dyeing, architecture, tea craft — everyday ingenuity

Traditional craftsmanship is the largest ICH category in China — ceramics (Jingdezhen porcelain, Yixing zisha, Jianshui pottery), silk weaving and dyeing (Shu brocade, Song brocade, Nanjing yunjin, xiangyunsha), timber architecture (Dong timberwork, Huizhou houses), tea craft (Longjing, Wuyi rock tea, pu'er) and papermaking. These crafts fuse natural materials, tooling wisdom and aesthetic habit into objects still rooted in local industry and daily life; Jingdezhen, Yixing, Suzhou and Quanzhou are among their core bearers.
