A century-old Tengchong jade house founded in 1885 by Cun Zunfu, the "king of Chinese jade," in Mandalay before putting down roots in Heshun; a name emblematic of Tengchong's jade-carving and emerald trade.

Famous Snacks (5)

Tengchong's most famed dish — stir-fried erkuai rice cake — said to have earned its name by saving the fleeing Southern Ming emperor, the signature plate of western Yunnan's Tengchong.
A layered hotpot simmered over charcoal in a local Tengchong clay pot, shaped like a volcano with broth evoking the hot sea, hailed as the "treasure of the city."
The everyday Tengchong breakfast — yellow pea flour simmered into a smooth, thick porridge, eaten with baba flatbread or youtiao fritters, the taste of western-Yunnan streets at dawn.
Heshun TounaoFamous Snacks
A medicinal-sweet soup of the Heshun qiaoxiang, made of egg, fried glutinous rice cake and peanuts in hot sugar water, the folk treat a mother-in-law serves her son-in-law on the second day of the New Year.

Tengchong jade carving, working Burmese jadeite by the old "grinding-jade" method, was inscribed in the fifth national ICH list in 2021 — the core craft of Tengchong's five-century jade-working tradition.
Tengchong Shadow PuppetryNational ICH · Batch 第三批国家级非遗(2011)
Tengchong shadow puppetry, centred on the Liu family troupe of Gudong's Liu jia zhai, is a leading representative of south-western Chinese shadow theatre; national ICH from 2011.
Shuicheng, a Lisu village on the China-Burma frontier in Tengchong's Diantan town, is listed in Yunnan's second ICH batch, blending border-garrison heritage with Lisu tradition.
