How the China travel budget calculator works
Pick your entry and exit cities, trip length, travel month and comfort level. The calculator builds a city-by-city route and prices it from real data: average hotel rates per tier, typical meal costs, high-speed-rail and flight fares, and attraction tickets. The total updates live in your currency — no signup, no numbers pulled from thin air.
What does $1,000 actually buy in China?
More than most travelers expect. On the budget tier, $1,000 covers roughly two weeks across two or three cities — simple rooms, local meals and trains included. On the standard tier it funds about ten comfortable days; on the comfort tier, close to a week in 4-star hotels. Costs drop fast outside the megacities, and the calculator helps you use that to your advantage.
Real prices from 100 Chinese cities
Every number comes from city-level data: hundreds of thousands of hotel listings averaged by star tier, local dining statistics, metro and taxi fares, and entry tickets for 1,800+ attractions. Seasonal price swings are applied automatically from your travel month.
Browse all cities →Budget, Standard or Comfort — pick your style
The same route prices out three ways. Budget leans on 2-star stays and street food; Standard mixes 3-star hotels with sit-down restaurants; Comfort books 4-star and up. Switching tiers on the results page shows exactly what each upgrade costs, city by city.
