万古楼について
Wangu Pavilion stands atop Lion Mountain on the western side of Lijiang Old Town, built as part of the historic estate associated with the Mu family, the hereditary rulers who governed the Lijiang area for generations. The pavilion is a relatively modern reconstruction inspired by traditional design, built to complement the historic character of the old town while offering one of the best elevated views over the city.
The building itself is notable for its ornate carved decoration and imposing multi-story structure, reflecting the grandeur associated with the Mu family's historical status. More than the architecture itself, though, the pavilion's main draw for visitors is its vantage point: from its upper levels, the sweeping panorama over the rooftops of Lijiang Old Town, with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain visible in the distance on clear days, makes it one of the most popular spots in the city for photographing the old town as a whole.
Because it involves a climb up Lion Mountain and then up the pavilion itself, visitors should expect a moderate amount of walking and some stairs, though the effort is generally considered worthwhile for the views. A visit typically takes an hour or so, and clear weather significantly improves the experience given its focus on panoramic sightlines.
Situated at the edge of Lijiang Old Town, Wangu Pavilion is an easy and popular addition to a day spent exploring the historic center, often visited in the late afternoon when lighting conditions are favorable for photographing the old town below.
