The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Cable Car is one of three cableway routes within the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain scenic area near Lijiang, and it is the line most associated with reaching the mountain's glacier zone. Departing from a lower station near Ganhaizi, it carries visitors up to the Glacier Park area at an elevation of roughly 4,506 meters, making high-altitude glacial terrain accessible without any technical climbing.

From the upper station, wooden walkways laid across the ice and rock lead visitors further up the mountain, with the highest point along the route reaching around 4,680 meters. Along the way, visitors get close views of glacial ice and the surrounding peaks of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain range, along with sweeping panoramas over the valley below on clear days. This is generally considered the most dramatic of the mountain's cableway routes, given the altitude and proximity to the glacier itself.

Given the extreme elevation, visitors should move slowly once at the top, dress warmly in layers, and be mindful of symptoms of altitude discomfort, which can affect even healthy travelers at this height. It is advisable to avoid overexertion and to descend if symptoms become severe. Warm clothing can often be rented near the lower station for those not equipped for the cold.

As the primary route to the mountain's glacier area, this cable car is typically the centerpiece of a full-day visit to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from Lijiang, and travelers often pair it with lower-altitude stops in the same scenic area, such as Blue Moon Valley, before returning to the old town.
