About Three Immortals Mountain Scenic Area
The Three Immortals Mountain Scenic Area is a Daoist-themed cultural park on the coast of Penglai, in the northern part of Yantai, built to recreate the three mythical mountains of ancient Chinese legend. According to folklore, the mountains of Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou were the homes of immortals across the eastern sea, and this park brings those imagined peaks to life through grand pavilions, rock gardens, and treasure halls. It is one of the most lavishly designed cultural attractions in the Yantai region.
The park is laid out as a series of grand halls, towers, and pavilions set among lakes, gardens, and ornamental bridges, all executed on an ambitious scale. The interiors house collections of fine wood and jade carvings, ancient-style furniture, calligraphy, and precious minerals, with the most famous piece being a reclining jade Buddha carved from a single piece of Myanmar jade, considered one of the largest of its kind. Architecture enthusiasts and photographers are drawn to the painted eaves, gilded rooftops, and the layered silhouettes of the pavilions reflected in the surrounding water.
The layout invites a slow, contemplative walk rather than a rushed tour, and visitors typically spend a couple of hours exploring the halls, gardens, and viewpoints. Photography is a major draw, particularly in the early morning and late afternoon, when the gilded rooftops catch the light and the water reflects the layered silhouettes of the buildings. Signage and audio guides help make sense of the dense symbolism behind the architecture and the treasures on display.
The park sits right beside the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea site and a short distance from Penglai Pavilion, so the three together form a natural full-day cluster of Daoist and mythologically themed attractions. Spring to autumn is the most pleasant time to visit, since the gardens and pavilions are best enjoyed in mild weather. For travelers interested in Chinese classical architecture, mythology, or simply beautifully composed views, the Three Immortals Mountain park is one of the most rewarding stops in the greater Yantai area.
