麦積山風景名勝区について

The Maijishan Scenic Area is the 5A-rated national-level protected landscape that encloses the Maijishan Grottoes and three companion zones in the mountains southeast of Tianshui. Recognized as one of the premier cultural-and-natural destinations in Northwest China, the scenic area sits at the eastern end of the western Qinling range, where the Qinling, Helan, and Min mountain systems meet and where the divide between the Yangtze and Yellow river basins cuts directly through the park.

Most foreign travelers arrive for the grottoes and discover that the surrounding park protects a much broader cross-section of Tianshui's heritage and landscape. Beyond the cliff caves, the four core zones include Xianren Cliff, Shimen, Quxi, and the historic Jieting hot-spring town. Each is set in a different micro-region of forested ridges, valleys, and river confluences, giving the scenic area an unusual ecological range within a single protected boundary.

Xianren Cliff, the most visited of the companion zones, combines vertical sandstone cliffs with a cluster of Buddhist and Daoist temples balanced on ledges above a deep pine-filled gorge. Shimen is known for its narrow vertical gateway of rock; Quxi for winding river scenery and quiet trails. Together these zones show how Buddhist cave culture, mountain temple architecture, and upland ecology intertwined along the southern Gansu frontier of the Silk Road.

For a self-guided traveler, a full day inside the scenic area balances a grottoes morning with an afternoon at one of the sister zones. The elevation and tree cover keep temperatures several degrees cooler than in the Tianshui urban basin, making summer the easiest season to explore. Bring layered clothing, water, and time. The layout rewards unhurried detours rather than a single highlight sprint.
