正定栄国府について

Zhengding Rongguo Mansion is a meticulously recreated Qing-dynasty courtyard compound in the old town of Zhengding, just north of Shijiazhuang, built in strict accordance with the descriptions in Cao Xueqin's literary classic Dream of the Red Chamber. Constructed in the nineteen eighties as a location for the landmark television adaptation of the novel, it was one of the first large-scale imitation Qing-dynasty residential complexes in China, designed under strict reference to the imperial regulations of the era. For readers of the novel and fans of period drama, it is the most atmospheric place in the Shijiazhuang area to step inside the world of the Jia family.

The compound follows the layout described in the novel, with a sequence of courtyards, reception halls, garden pavilions, and family quarters arranged along a central axis. Visitors walk through rooms furnished in late imperial style, including the great halls where the fictional Jia clan received visitors and the more intimate chambers of the women of the household. Carved beams, lattice windows, and courtyard plantings evoke the refined world of an upper-class Chinese family of the period, while informative displays explain the novel's characters, plot, and the customs of Qing-era aristocratic life that shape the story.

The mansion is best known as the primary filming location for the nineteen eighty-seven television series of Dream of the Red Chamber, and many of the most memorable scenes from that production, including the imperial consort's homecoming visit, were shot here on the adjacent Ningrong Street. Other period dramas have followed, and the street outside the mansion preserves the same old-shopfront look that made the original production so visually memorable. Visitors often enjoy spotting familiar views from the screen as they wander.

A typical visit takes one to two hours, and the mansion is a manageable size for families and visitors who prefer a more contained experience than the great monasteries nearby. Spring and autumn are the loveliest seasons, when the courtyard plantings and the light through the lattice windows are at their best. Costume rental is sometimes available for visitors who want to photograph themselves in period dress, which adds to the appeal for younger travelers.

Rongguo Mansion sits inside Zhengding and combines naturally with Longxing Temple and the city's four pagodas to fill a full day exploring the old town. For anyone with an interest in Chinese literature, period drama, or the daily life of the late imperial elite, it is one of the most distinctive and enjoyable stops in the Shijiazhuang area.
