N39砂漠探検基地

The N39 Desert Adventure Base is a desert adventure and recreation site in the Markit National Desert Park, located in the Kashgar region at latitude 39 degrees north, a historical line of desert exploration in the Taklamakan. The base has been developed as the starting point for crossings of the Taklamakan Desert and as a venue for desert sport, leisure, and outdoor events. For international visitors with an interest in desert landscapes and desert travel, it is one of the most distinctive destinations in the Kashgar area.

The site has been marketed as a "road of life", reflecting its role as a launching point for organised desert expeditions. The dunes within the park reach heights of around a hundred metres, with fine, light-coloured sand that is particularly well suited to the activities on offer. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times to visit; summer heat in the Taklamakan is dangerous, and winter conditions can be harsh.
