The Xishuangbanna Ethnic Customs Park sits on the southwest edge of Jinghong beside the Liusha River, about a kilometer from the city center, and serves as the prefecture's oldest and most accessible introduction to its six main ethnic groups. Where most of Xishuangbanna's signature sights are scattered across rainforest parks and villages outside the city, the Customs Park gathers a representative slice of that cultural diversity into a single walkable green space, making it a sensible first stop for travelers who want an overview before heading deeper into the prefecture.

The park is laid out as a tropical garden of banyans, palms, fan palms, and ornamental lakes, with pavilions dedicated to the Dai, Hani, Yi, Jinuo, Blang, and Lahu communities that have shaped Xishuangbanna over centuries. Each pavilion presents traditional architecture, costumes, farming tools, musical instruments, and handicrafts, and scheduled performances through the day showcase dances and songs from each group, sometimes inviting visitors to join. The intent is broadly celebratory rather than deep ethnography, but it gives a useful frame for the more authentic encounters travelers may have later in the villages.

The grounds themselves are a pleasant place to walk. Mature trees shade winding paths, small lotus ponds attract birdlife, and the riverside setting is cooler than central Jinghong. Within the same compound sits the small Xishuangbanna Wildlife Zoo, which shares a ticket and is popular with families, although adult visitors often find the cultural pavilions more rewarding than the modest animal enclosures.
