Giới thiệu về Cung Vạn Thọ
The Wanshou Palace is a Daoist temple complex occupying the center of a small island in Xianghu Park on the southern side of Nanchang, reached by a stone bridge that connects the islet to the surrounding lakeshore. The site is dedicated to Xu Xun, a Jin-dynasty official revered as the founder of the Jingming lineage of Daoism, and the current buildings are largely in the Qing-dynasty style, though the temple's origins trace back considerably earlier and the spot has been a religious focus for the region for many centuries.
The complex is laid out along a north-south central axis, with a sequence of halls — including the main Zhenjun Hall and the Yuhuang Hall — rising one behind the other beneath upturned eaves and roofs of glazed tile. Inside, painted ceiling coffers, cast-iron censers, an old bronze bell, and memorial inscriptions record the temple's long connection to Xu Xun's cult and to the broader culture of Jiangxi Daoism. Old trees shade the courtyards, and incense smoke from visiting worshippers gives the compound an active, lived-in religious atmosphere rather than the inert feeling of a purely preserved monument. A series of inscribed arches and stele near the bridge entrance reference classical Chinese calligraphers and reinforce the temple's place in the region's scholarly as well as religious traditions.
For foreign visitors, the Wanshou Palace is worth visiting both for its architecture and for what it represents within Jiangxi's religious history. The Jingming lineage centered on Xu Xun was historically one of the most widely practiced Daoist traditions in the province, and Wanshou Palace temples dedicated to him were established by Jiangxi merchant communities in cities across China, making this the original center of a far-flung devotional network. The island setting within Xianghu Park adds to the visit, since the approach across the water and the lakeside walk that surrounds it turn a brief temple stop into a more leisurely excursion. A visit typically fills an hour or two and can easily be combined with other central Nanchang sights.
