Nuomixiang

Batch 1
Founding

Nuomixiang is a Dalian sticky-food house with over seventy years of history, long known among locals for red-bean porridge, rice cakes and fried rice-ball dumplings, a shared childhood memory for Dalian people; it was formally incorporated in 1998 as Dalian Nuomixiang Food Co., Ltd.

What made it famous

In Dalian's sweet-food lineage Nuomixiang is the most representative sticky-food house; its signature red-bean porridge is slow-cooked thick and soft, sweet without cloying, regarded by locals as one of the city's oldest dessert shops.

Signature craft

Its pastries use glutinous rice, red bean and sesame as staples; the rice cakes are repeatedly steamed and pounded to a soft, springy bite, and the fried rice-ball dumplings are crisp outside with a soft, sweet, flowing centre, showing the refinement of northeastern sticky-food craft.
