Tannan Bay is a long natural beach on the southeast coast of Pingtan, the island area administered by Fuzhou, widely praised as one of the finest strands on the island and nicknamed the "Platinum Coast" for its pale sand and clear water. Less developed than the busier northern beaches, it preserves a more pristine, open feel that has long drawn travelers looking for an unspoiled shoreline. For visitors to Pingtan in search of sand and sea, it is among the most appealing spots.

The bay curves along some twenty kilometers of coast, backed by dunes and open grassland, with soft sand and gentle surf that make it well suited to swimming, beachcombing, and long walks. The relative lack of dense development gives it a quiet, expansive quality, and at low tide the exposed sand invites exploration, while the open horizon makes for memorable sunrises and sunsets. On warm spring and summer nights, the water here can sometimes glow with natural bioluminescence, the same phenomenon that draws visitors to Pingtan's shores after dark.

As a developing beach destination, facilities are lighter than at more established resorts, so bring water, sun protection, and anything else you might need for a few hours on the sand. The beach is at its best on weekdays and in the shoulder seasons, when you can have long stretches of sand nearly to yourself, while summer weekends and holidays draw bigger crowds from the mainland. Footwear is useful if the sand gets hot, and a wind layer comes in handy on the open coast.

Tannan Bay sits on Pingtan's south side, within reach of the island's other coastal sights, so it pairs well with Xianren Well, Jiangjun Mountain, and the 68 Nautical Miles area for a full day of exploring the island's shore. For travelers who want to slow down and simply enjoy the coast, it is one of the most peaceful and photogenic beaches in the Fuzhou area and a perfect place to end a Pingtan excursion.
