Yi Zhi Chan Tuina (One-Finger Zen Massage)
国家級無形文化遺産 · 第4次選定Yi Zhi Chan ('one-finger Zen') tuina is a school of traditional Chinese medical massage. Centered on the 'one-finger Zen' technique, it emphasizes applying force through the thumb, and is preserved in Zhuhai as a transmitted TCM lineage.
The practitioner uses the tip of the thumb to apply steady, even pressure and movement along acupoints and meridians. It values cultivated skill and a gentle yet penetrating touch, aiming to unblock the meridians and regulate the body.
As a national-level item of intangible cultural heritage (traditional medicine), Yi Zhi Chan tuina preserves a distinctive system of TCM manipulation and reflects the wisdom of external therapy and wellness in Chinese medicine.
You can learn about the origins and technique of this massage method through Zhuhai's local TCM transmission institutions and heritage demonstration activities.
