It is one of the more relaxed walking experiences within the wider Wulingyuan site, with the valley floor largely flat and the surrounding peaks rising on either side, giving visitors a more intimate, horizontal perspective on the landscape than the cliff-edge lookouts elsewhere in the park.

Walking the gallery, visitors pass wildflowers, patches of forest, and a succession of oddly shaped rock formations, each of which has been given a name based on what it is said to resemble, from animals to figures from Chinese legend. The valley's name reflects the idea of walking through a long traditional Chinese landscape painting, with each bend in the path revealing a new composition of peaks, trees, and streams, and the experience is genuinely closer to a slow visual stroll than a hike.

A small sightseeing tram runs along the valley floor for visitors who prefer not to walk the full length, allowing a shorter, easier visit for those with limited time or mobility constraints. Either way, the pace here is slower than at the busier lookouts of Yuanjiajie or Tianzi Mountain, and the gallery tends to be a good option for the start or end of a day in the park when energy levels are uneven.

For visitors planning a Zhangjiajie itinerary, the Ten-Mile Gallery works well as a gentler counterpoint to the more exposed cliff circuits of Wulingyuan, and it suits travelers who want a quieter, more contemplative stretch of the park alongside the headline views. It can be slotted into a wider loop of the Suoxiyu area without requiring a separate day of its own.
