Xuzhou Ocean Polar World, part of a well-known domestic aquarium chain, is a large marine-life themed park on the eastern outskirts of Xuzhou, covering around a hundred thousand square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibit space. It is one of the biggest aquariums in the Huaihai economic region, drawing family visitors from across Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, and Anhui provinces, and for travelers touring Xuzhou with children it provides a reliable half-day indoor activity regardless of weather.

The park's collection spans polar species such as polar bears, beluga whales, walruses, and penguins alongside more than a thousand species of marine animals from around the world. Themed zones lead visitors through a tropical rainforest hall, an Amazon gallery, a shark bay, a deep-sea display, a sunken ship exhibit, and a glass underwater tunnel where rays and reef sharks glide overhead. The jellyfish and deep-sea creature halls are particular favorites for photographers.

Daily performances are the headline draw, especially the underwater theater shows that combine performers and marine animals in a choreographed routine set to music, and the marine mammal demonstrations featuring dolphins and sea lions. A separate polar hall allows close-up views of belugas and penguins in cooled habitats, and touch pools in selected zones let younger visitors interact with small rays and starfish under staff supervision.

The aquarium is well suited to families, with wide walkways, ramps, and a layout that flows naturally from zone to zone. Plan for three to four hours, longer if you want to catch all of the scheduled shows. Themed restaurants and rest areas are scattered through the complex, and weekday mornings are noticeably quieter than weekends. Information panels are mostly in Chinese, so a translation app is useful for visitors who want to read the educational content.

Xuzhou Ocean Polar World is not a heritage site, but it is a useful addition to the family itinerary in a city that is otherwise dominated by Han Dynasty tombs and classical landscape. For travelers with children who need a break from cultural attractions, the aquarium pairs well with a half-day excursion to the nearby wildlife park or a relaxed evening back at Yunlong Lake.
