西霞口旅遊度假区

The Xixiakou Tourist Resort is a large coastal resort complex at the eastern tip of the Shandong peninsula, near Rongcheng, administered as part of the broader Weihai tourism region. It groups together several of the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula's headline attractions under a single operational umbrella, making it a useful base for foreign visitors planning to explore the remote, scenic coast around Cape Chengshan.

The resort area is best understood as a cluster rather than a single destination. Its most visited components include the Shendiaoshan Wildlife Park, the boat cruise to Hailv Island, and the sea-cliff roads and viewing terraces that connect them with nearby Cape Chengshan. A mix of resort hotels, seafood restaurants, and family-oriented attractions fill the gaps between the major sights, giving the area the feel of a purpose-built coastal tourism district rather than a traditional town.

The setting is the primary draw. The coastline here is dramatic, with high cliffs, sea stacks, and constant wind off the Yellow Sea. The resort complex integrates that geography into its layout, with walking paths, lookouts, and shuttle connections designed for slow exploration of the coast. The eastern Jiaodong Peninsula has a more exposed, frontier-like atmosphere than the sheltered bays on the southern side of Weihai, and Xixiakou makes a convenient hub for that landscape.

For a self-guided traveler, Xixiakou is best treated as a one or two night base from which to visit Cape Chengshan, the wildlife park, and the offshore islands. Staying overnight makes a sunrise visit to the cape practical. Bring layers for the wind, a translation app for the predominantly Chinese-language signage, and an appetite for fresh Yellow Sea seafood, which is the highlight of most restaurant menus in the resort.
