威海華夏文旅度假区

The Weihai Huaxia Cultural Tourism Resort is a large eco-cultural resort complex adjacent to Weihai Huaxia City, extending the same brand into a broader program of cultural attractions, landscaped gardens, and live entertainment. Built on the site of former mining land, the resort is one of the most ambitious examples of post-industrial landscape restoration on the eastern Shandong coast.

The site packs in a wide range of attractions. The Yu Wang Palace showcases the legendary history of the Xia dynasty's founder Yu and other early Chinese cultural heroes. The Xia Garden complex focuses on Jiaodong Peninsula folk culture through reconstructed vernacular architecture and craft displays. A large underground civil-defense education hall has been built into the former mine pit, while a ceremonial triple-arched gateway, a three-sided Guanyin water sculpture, and a sequence of traditional acrobatic and equestrian shows round out the visit.

The signature experience is "Shenyou Legend," an outdoor spectacle staged inside the former quarry. The audience sits on a moving grandstand that rotates and travels through different scenes, allowing water, land, and aerial performance elements to unfold in sequence. The production is one of the most technically ambitious live shows in northern China and uses the quarry's vertical walls as a natural backdrop for projection, lighting, and pyrotechnic effects.

For a foreign traveler, the resort is best understood as a single multi-hour program rather than a list of individual sights. An afternoon visit to the gardens and folk-culture exhibits, followed by the evening show, makes for a complete experience. A translation app helps with the dense Chinese-language cultural content.
