之江文化センターについて

Zhijiang Cultural Center, located in the Zhijiang district of Hangzhou on the western side of the city, is a modern, large-scale cultural complex that gathers several of the most important provincial cultural institutions of Zhejiang into a single integrated site. Its scale and ambition make it one of the most significant cultural landmarks built in eastern China in recent years.

The center brings together four major provincial facilities: the Zhijiang branch of the Zhejiang Provincial Library, the Zhijiang branch of the Zhejiang Provincial Museum, the Zhejiang Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and the Zhejiang Literature Museum. Alongside these four institutions sits a shared public service center that ties them together and supports a common flow of visitors.

With a total area of well over three hundred thousand square meters, the complex is designed to function as a single destination rather than as four separate museums that happen to sit near one another. Visitors can move between the library, museum, heritage displays, and literature collections in a single outing, sampling several aspects of Zhejiang's culture in one coordinated circuit.

The integration of intangible cultural heritage is a particularly distinctive feature, giving the center a living dimension that goes beyond the display of static objects. Performances, demonstrations, and encounters with the practitioners of traditional crafts complement the conventional exhibits and bring the province's cultural traditions into the present tense.

For travelers interested in the culture, history, and literature of Zhejiang, Zhijiang Cultural Center offers the most comprehensive single destination in Hangzhou, a brand-new complex whose four institutions together survey the full breadth of the province's cultural life.
