浙江省博物館(之江館区)について
The Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Zhijiang Branch, located within the Zhijiang Cultural Center of Hangzhou, is the largest and most modern incarnation of the principal museum of the province. With tens of thousands of square meters of exhibition space spread across four floors above ground and one below, it serves as a comprehensive public cultural space for the collection, study, and display of the history and art of Zhejiang.
As one of the most important cultural landmarks in the province, the Zhijiang branch presents the long history of Zhejiang through a broad range of artifacts, from prehistoric finds to later imperial treasures. The scale of the galleries allows the museum to give proper room to each chapter of that history, rather than compressing the story into a smaller floor plan.
The collections are especially strong in the material that has made Zhejiang central to the story of Chinese art and commerce, including celadon ceramics, silk textiles, calligraphy, painting, and the artifacts of the region's maritime trade. These holdings reflect the province's long role as a center of craftsmanship, wealth, and exchange along the coast south of Shanghai.
The museum is designed as a modern institution rather than a simple repository, with spaces for conservation, research, education, and public events alongside the display galleries. This means that in addition to viewing objects, visitors can encounter lectures, temporary exhibitions, and cultural programs that bring the collections into active conversation with contemporary audiences.
For visitors wanting a structured introduction to the history and art of Zhejiang, the Zhijiang branch of the provincial museum offers the richest single resource in Hangzhou, a modern, spacious institution whose collections place the city's celebrated scenery in a longer cultural context.
