Patrimoine culturel

The China National Silk Museum, opened in 1992 below Yuhuang Hill south of West Lake, is the country's first dedicated silk museum and the largest in the world. Its collection spans silk from the Neolithic onward—Han and Tang textiles, Song garments, Ming and Qing official-loom pieces—and it led the 2009 UNESCO inscription of Chinese sericulture and silk craftsmanship.

Visite: Reconstructed looms and reeling and dyeing scenes let visitors follow silk from mulberry leaf to thread, understand Hangzhou weaving traditions such as Hangluo and brocade, and view precious textiles unearthed along the Silk Road—seeing how silk linked East and West.
