About OCT East
OCT East is the largest integrated ecological resort in Shenzhen, a 4A-level national scenic area built across the forested mountains behind Dameisha in the Yantian district of eastern Shenzhen. Developed by the same Overseas Chinese Town group behind Window of the World and Happy Valley, OCT East is the group's flagship nature-and-leisure project and one of the most ambitious single resort complexes in southern China.
The resort is organised around three main themed areas, each with its own character and ticketing. Knight Valley (Daxia Gu) is the high-thrill zone, with a large water park, a forest coaster, a cliff walkway, and a series of scenic cable-car connections up to the ridge. Tea Stream Valley (Chaxi Gu) is the gentler, landscape-led area, with formal gardens, wetlands, a tea-themed cultural zone, and the resort's signature European-style architecture. Cloud Sea Valley (Yunhai Gu) is the sports and wellness zone, with golf, hiking trails, and mountain-view accommodations.
Two further components complete the wider complex: a cluster of themed hotels ranging from family-friendly resorts to boutique design properties, and the Tianshu real-estate development that funds the resort's ongoing operations. The three themed valleys are connected by a network of cable cars, shuttle buses, and walking trails, allowing visitors to move between zones without leaving the mountain.
The setting is the real draw. OCT East sits within the mountains of the Mirs Bay catchment, with views south to the South China Sea and north across the Shenzhen lowlands. Mature forest, ornamental lakes, and carefully curated flower gardens give the resort a quieter, more obviously "designed" feel than Shenzhen's other major theme parks.
OCT East is best treated as a full-day destination or even as an overnight base at one of the themed hotels. Pair the visit with nearby Dameisha beach for a longer Yantian-district itinerary.
