The Tianmen Mountain Cableway is the long passenger cable car that carries visitors from a station in downtown Zhangjiajie up to the summit of Tianmen Mountain, and the ride is itself considered one of the signature experiences of a visit to the city. Many experienced travelers time their arrival for the first departure of the day or late in the afternoon to avoid the longest waits.
