Qingdao Polar Ocean Park is a 4A-rated marine theme park perched on the Laoshan coastal corridor at 60 Donghai East Road, occupying a peninsula that faces the Yellow Sea on three sides. Bounded by the Sculpture Garden, Shi Lao Ren Bathing Beach, and Xiaomaidao Park, it functions as the anchor attraction of Qingdao's eastern seafront tourism belt, with polar animals, temperate-zone marine life, and live ocean shows distributed across several connected indoor and outdoor pavilions.

The park's core exhibits are built around animals from the planet's polar regions and temperate seas. Polar bears, beluga whales, penguins, seals, sea lions, and arctic foxes are housed in chilled habitats designed to mimic high-latitude environments, while a separate tropical and temperate zone features sharks, rays, jellyfish, and reef species. The 4A-rated facility emphasizes both display and education, with signage explaining the marine ecosystems represented and conservation messaging integrated into the animal presentations. Live performance areas host dolphin and sea-lion shows, while animal encounter programs offer closer, supervised contact experiences for an additional fee.

For international visitors, the park is one of the more family-accessible attractions on Qingdao's coast, with indoor pavilions providing a weather-protected alternative to the city's beaches on foggy or windy days, a common condition along the Shandong shoreline. Most families budget between half a day and a full day to explore at a relaxed pace, and the surrounding neighborhood offers seafood restaurants, the Shi Lao Ren seafront, and Xiaomaidao Park within easy walking distance.

The Polar Ocean Park pairs naturally with the adjacent coastal attractions and the Olympic Sailing Center to form a full eastern seafront itinerary, and its location close to Laoshan makes it a reasonable stop en route to the mountain's Taiqing or Yangkou zones.
