Giới thiệu về Phi hiệu Hiệp Đồng Khánh (Bảo tàng Tiền trang Trung Quốc)

The Xietongqing Draft Bank, now operating as the China Qianzhuang Museum, is one of the most atmospheric and historically rich of Pingyao's preserved banking houses, located on the bustling West Street of the Ancient City. As one of the major Shanxi piaohao, it played an important role in the nationwide silver remittance network that made Pingyao the financial capital of late Qing China. Today it stands alongside Rishengchang as one of the essential stops for understanding the city's merchant and financial history.

Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, Xietongqing grew rapidly into one of the largest draft banks in Shanxi, with branches across northern and central China. The museum traces the bank's history through exhibits on its founding, its expansion, its internal organization, and its eventual decline as modern banking displaced the old piaohao system. Displays of old account books, seals, drafts, telegraph equipment, and daily-use objects bring the operations of the bank to life, and the exhibits are particularly strong on the technical workings of the remittance system that made long-distance money transfer possible in an era before electronic banking.

The building itself is one of the most rewarding in Pingyao for architecture and atmosphere. The complex is built around a series of courtyards that step down to a remarkable underground vault, a stone-walled strongroom where silver was once stored under heavy guard. Visitors can walk down into the vault and imagine the weight and security of the wealth that passed through this very courtyard, and the experience is one of the most visceral links anywhere in the city to Pingyao's identity as a financial capital. Carved screens, lanterns, and carefully restored interiors complete the sense of stepping back into a working Qing-era bank.

The Xietongqing Draft Bank is included in the Pingyao combo ticket and sits on West Street, a short walk from Rishengchang and the Ming-Qing shopping street. Allow about an hour to explore the courtyard, the exhibits, and especially the underground vault. The site can get busy in the middle of the day, so an early morning visit offers a calmer, more reflective experience. For any traveler curious about how China's first banks actually worked, and how a small walled city became the financial engine of an empire, this museum is one of the most rewarding and atmospheric stops in Pingyao.
