Giới thiệu về Núi Minh Sa

Mingsha Mountain, the range of singing sand dunes that rises along the southern edge of Dunhuang, is one of the great natural landmarks of the Chinese northwest and a defining feature of the region's desert landscape. Its name, meaning "singing sands," describes the humming or booming sound the dunes can produce when wind moves across their surface or when someone slides down a steep slope, a rare acoustic phenomenon known at only a few locations in the world.

The dunes here are large, continuous, and visually dramatic, their wind-sculpted ridges forming a soft, golden wall along the margins of the Dunhuang oasis. Climbing to a crest takes effort, as each step sinks into loose sand, but the reward is a sweeping view over the basin below, where green cultivated land meets the abrupt line of the desert and, in the distance, the open expanse of the Gobi.

Sunset is the hour most travelers aim for. As the sun drops, the sand shifts through shades of gold, amber, and shadow, and the temperature falls quickly, making the descent far more comfortable than the climb. The relative silence of the dunes at this hour, broken only by wind or by the faint singing of the sand itself, is part of what gives the place its atmosphere.

The dunes are also the setting for some of Dunhuang's most popular desert activities. Camel trains wind along the ridges in long, photogenic lines, visitors climb and slide for the sheer pleasure of the slope, and photographers gather on the high points to catch the last light before the sky darkens over the desert.

For any visitor to Dunhuang, Mingsha Mountain is an essential natural attraction, a landscape that captures both the harshness and the beauty of the Silk Road frontier and explains why this oasis city left such a deep impression on the travelers who crossed these sands.
