О Родина Си Ши

The Xishi Native Place is a 4A-rated scenic and cultural area in Zhuji, in the Shaoxing administrative region, dedicated to the legendary beauty Xishi, one of the "Four Great Beauties" of ancient China and a central figure in the lore of the late Spring and Autumn period. The site encompasses the Huanjiang River corridor and the adjacent landscape of parks, gardens, and historical interpretation centers that frame the villages associated with Xishi's life.

The scenic area is organized around several clusters of activity. The Xishi Temple complex, at the heart of the site, is the principal devotional and architectural focus, with a sequence of courtyards, halls, and pavilions dedicated to the figure of Xishi and to the broader cultural memory of the Yue kingdom. Around the temple, the Huanjiang River corridor is laid out as a sequence of formal Chinese gardens, water features, and exhibition halls interpreting the life of Xishi as both a historical figure and a literary symbol. Themed pavilions, sculpture groups, and cultural exhibitions along the riverbanks provide context for the story of Xishi, who was sent as a spy to the rival state of Wu and whose legend has been retold in poetry, opera, and fiction for more than two thousand years.

The significance of the site extends beyond the biographical. The story of Xishi is woven into the broader narrative of the conflict between the kingdoms of Yue and Wu in the fifth century BCE, a formative period in early Chinese history that is still the subject of extensive literary, historical, and archaeological scholarship. The Xishi Native Place therefore serves as both a memorial to an individual and as an interpretation center for one of the most studied periods of pre-imperial Chinese culture.

For international visitors, the Xishi Native Place is typically visited as a half-day or full-day trip from Zhuji or central Shaoxing, often in combination with the Wuxie Waterfall area to the west. The site is suitable for visitors with an interest in classical Chinese literature, early Chinese history, or the formal garden tradition of Jiangnan, and the relatively flat terrain of the river corridor makes it accessible to most travelers. Most visits focus on the temple complex and the principal garden sections, with the more distant riverbanks explored at leisure.
