Dongqian Lake is a vast freshwater lake on the southeastern outskirts of Ningbo, several times larger than the famous West Lake in Hangzhou and one of the largest natural lakes in coastal eastern China. Surrounded by green hills and dotted with causeways, islands, and temples, it is the most popular nature retreat close to the city. For travelers who want to trade the bustle of central Ningbo for fresh air and open water, it is the obvious choice.

The lakeshore is a patchwork of scenic zones, parks, and resort areas, each with its own character.
