Zhengshan Tang (Lapsang Tea House)

Batch 1
Founding

Zhengshan Tang traces its roots to Tongmu Village in Xingcun Town, Wuyishan, where the Jiang family settled in the late Song dynasty and has made tea for generations; Jiang Yuanxun is the 24th-generation bearer of the Lapsang souchong craft and founded the firm behind the Zhengshan Tang name.

What made it famous

Zhengshan Tang is renowned for Lapsang souchong; its "Yuanzheng" brand earned German BCS, Japanese JAS and American NOP organic certification as early as 1998, among Fujian's first and largest organic black-tea export bases. In 2005, under Jiang Yuanxun, it created Jin Jun Mei from pure tea buds, opening a new era for premium Chinese black tea.

Signature craft

Lapsang souchong uses high-altitude leaves from Tongmu Pass, traditionally smoke-cured over pinewood for a red liquor with distinctive longan-and-pine aroma; Jin Jun Mei extends this craft by using only single buds, yielding golden-black leaves with rich floral, fruity and honey notes.

Cultural standing

Zhengshan Tang is a leading Wuyishan black-tea brand, widely recognised for its craft innovation and organic exports; it is not on the MOFCOM China Time-honoured Brand list, and is recorded here as a tea-house lineage and brand.
