Founding

Zhang Xiao Quan scissors trace to 1663 in Hangzhou and became one of the city's celebrated "Five Hang" products—among the oldest names in China's cutlery trade.

What made it famous

Prized across China for sharpness, durability and finely engraved decoration, the brand is an emblem of Hangzhou craftsmanship.

Signature craft

Traditional scissor-making involves seventy-two steps, centered on steel-inlay forging and hand engraving: fine steel from Longquan and Yunhe is hammered into wrought iron to form the edge, while West Lake landscapes and animals are carved on the body.

Cultural standing

A China Time-honored Brand whose scissor-forging technique is inscribed on the first national intangible cultural heritage list.
