Bone-and-wood inlay is a Ningbo decorative craft in which animal bone, shell and other materials are set into wood to form patterns, widely used on furniture, screens and architectural fittings.

Using raised, flush and other inlay techniques, slivers of bone and wood are pieced into landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, the crisp lines and sharp contrast lending refined splendor to plain wood.
