파미르 관광구 소개

The Pamir Tourist Area is a formalised scenic precinct on the eastern Pamir plateau, organised around the town of Tashkurgan and a cluster of linked natural and cultural sites. As a designated national-level scenic area, it brings together the most accessible of the Pamir's natural attractions with significant historical monuments and the cultural heritage of the local Tajik community. For travellers undertaking the highway journey from Kashgar, it is the principal organised destination on the plateau and the natural turnaround or overnight point for most itineraries.

The area has a long history as a crossroads of the Silk Road. The route through this section of the Pamir was part of the ancient southern and central Silk Road corridors linking Central Asia with South Asia and beyond, and Chinese sources from the Tang dynasty record a military outpost established here, while Yuan-dynasty sources describe postal relay stations. The combination of trade route, military frontier, and relay network gave the area a strategic significance that lasted for many centuries. Today's tourist area is, in effect, an interpretation of that layered history.

The precinct is organised around five main components: a visitor centre, the ancient Stone City ruins, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition area, the Jincaotan (Golden Grass Beach) wetland of the national wetland park, and the Caiyun Folk Custom Village. Each of these highlights a different aspect of the Pamir landscape and its cultural traditions. The Stone City ruins preserve the remains of a fortified settlement that once controlled the valley, while the Jincaotan wetland offers one of the most photographed landscapes in the region, with the golden meadow set against the mountains and the river.

For international visitors, the Pamir Tourist Area is best treated as a one-to-two-day stop within a longer Kashgar-to-Tashkurgan itinerary. The altitude is significant and requires acclimatisation. Highlights include the ruins themselves, the wetland at sunset, and the folk village, where traditional music, dance, and craft are presented. Allow a full day on site to move between the components at a relaxed pace. The infrastructure for visitors has developed significantly in recent years, but advance planning for transport, food, and accommodation is still advisable.
