Changchun Deyun Club is the Jilin branch of Deyun She, China's most famous traditional crosstalk, or xiangsheng, comedy brand, and the main venue in Changchun dedicated to live xiangsheng performance. Opened in 2017 with the support of the local district government, the club was launched as a partnership bringing Deyun She's founder and lead performers together with a regional catering group, and has since become the city's flagship venue for live comedy.

The club occupies a purpose-renovated theater designed in a classical Chinese style, with traditional decor that consciously echoes the teahouse origins of xiangsheng. The venue has a capacity of roughly 350 seats, which is small enough to preserve the intimacy that the form depends on. The stage is equipped with modern lighting, a large LED display, and tuned acoustics, allowing both the rapid-fire banter of duet crosstalk and the occasional solo performance to carry clearly to every row.

Deyun She is the most commercially and culturally influential institution in contemporary xiangsheng, having brought a traditional comedic form back to mass popularity over the past two decades. The Changchun branch inherits that brand and repertoire, with performances running most evenings of the week in a format that typically combines several short routines over the course of a show. The style mixes classical set pieces, regional dialect humor, contemporary references, and a great deal of improvised crowd work, which means that even repeat visitors encounter different material on different nights.

The club explicitly positions itself as an affordable entertainment option for local residents, with an operating motto of serving ordinary working audiences rather than only high-end ticket buyers. That orientation shapes the atmosphere, which tends to be relaxed, social, and notably local: the room is mostly filled with Changchun residents out for an evening of laughs rather than international tourists, which is part of why the experience feels grounded and authentic rather than packaged.

For foreign visitors, a night at Changchun Deyun Club is a deep-cut cultural experience rather than an easy first stop. The humor is fast, dialect-heavy, and built on cultural references that can be opaque without strong Mandarin and some background in Chinese comedy traditions.
