The Xie Fuchun powder shop was established in Yangzhou in 1830 by Xie Hongye, building on and advancing the craft of earlier local masters. Recognised among the first batch of China Time-Honored Brands, it is often called China's first cosmetics house.

名声を得た理由

In 1915 Xie Fuchun's "duck-egg" scented powder and fragrance beads won honours at the Panama–Pacific International Exposition, carrying this Yangzhou name abroad and making it a byword for traditional women's cosmetics.

The craft is known for its trio of fragrance, powder and oil: scent is drawn from fresh flowers and worked into base powders and oils with herbal ingredients through many stages, yielding scented powders and fragrance pieces rich in cultural meaning.

The "Xie Fuchun cosmetic-making craft" was inscribed on the fifth batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2021.
