Koi Kei Bakery

Koi Kei Bakery was founded by Leong Chan Kuong in 1997 from a single street cart on Coloane, selling peanut candy and almond cakes; through product innovation and scale it grew in barely two decades into Macau's most widely branched and highest-selling souvenir-food firm, with stores in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Koi Kei is called the rising star of Macau's souvenir trade, its almond cakes, peanut candy and egg rolls sold at home and abroad; it has topped Macau souvenir sales for many years running and is today the brand visitors know best and find on nearly every corner.

While keeping the traditional charcoal-roasted almond cake, Koi Kei introduced automated lines to expand capacity and developed new flavours such as seaweed-floss egg rolls and snowflake almond cakes, wedding Macau's souvenir craft with modern food technology.

Although Koi Kei is young (founded 1997), it is included for its emblematic place in Macau's souvenir trade; Macau has no "China Time-Honoured Brand" system, so this entry is recorded as a leading local brand rather than a century-old house.
