Maixiangcun
第1次選定Maixiangcun opened in 1929 on the old-city Dabeijie street of Hohhot, a restaurant devoted to local dishes and snacks whose old-town elegance made it part of the city's culinary memory. Weathering nearly a century, it is regarded locally as one of the representative old names of Hohhot dining.
Maixiangcun is known for its fine lamb shumai and oat noodles, one of the first restaurants to receive local "time-honored brand" recognition in Hohhot, and a perennial entry on local lists of traditional city flavours.
Its shumai pairs top-grade grassland lamb with premium wheat flour from the Tumochuan plain, the lotus-edged thin skins rolled by hand around a filling of lamb and scallion, steamed to order so the wrapper stays thin and the filling full yet free of gaminess; the house also keeps the traditional rolling and pressing methods of oat noodles, embodying the frontier blend of herding and farming foodways.
