三国城

Three Kingdoms City is the Three Kingdoms-themed section of the CCTV Wuxi Film and Television Base, the 5A-rated historical film park on the southern shore of Tai Lake. Built to house a major television adaptation of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," it is one of the older purpose-built film sets in China still open to the public and the part of the wider base most closely associated with that single production.

The section is laid out as a recreated imperial and military compound evoking the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period that followed. Visitors enter through period-style gateways into a network of palaces, audience halls, barracks, training grounds, and city streets built to look like a working capital of the era, with dressed facades, period signage, and costumed performers moving through the lanes. The architectural detail draws openly on the imagery made famous by the novel and its many screen adaptations, giving the whole area a theatrical, almost theme-park quality rather than a strictly archaeological one.

Live shows anchor the experience. Throughout the day, Three Kingdoms City stages large-scale battle performances featuring cavalry charges, staged duels, pyrotechnics, and battle reenactments drawn from the most famous scenes of the novel. These performances are the section's signature draw and tend to be what visitors, particularly families and fans of the source material, remember most from a visit.

A visit to Three Kingdoms City typically takes a few hours, with most visitors timing their route around the daily performance schedule rather than trying to see every facade at length. Because it forms part of the larger CCTV Wuxi Film and Television Base, it is usually visited together with the neighboring Water Margin section under a combined ticket, making for a half-day or longer outing on the Tai Lake shoreline, and pairing naturally with the lakefront parks, Lingshan, and other Wuxi attractions in the same area for visitors planning a wider tour.
