名坊園について
Mingfang Garden is a national 4A-level cultural attraction in Jingdezhen, a beautifully landscaped complex dedicated to the preservation and transmission of traditional porcelain craft within the "Porcelain Capital." Set in the Changnan New District on the northeastern side of the city, amid pleasant hills and water, it brings together more than thirty intangible cultural heritage bases and workshops, each focused on a different element of the ceramic tradition, creating one of the most comprehensive living demonstrations of Jingdezhen porcelain-making anywhere.
The great highlight of Mingfang Garden is the chance to walk through the complete, traditional process of porcelain-making, from the quarrying of the raw clay through forming, glazing, and firing, as it is actually practiced by master craftspeople. Rather than reading about the process on a plaque or watching a film, visitors move from workshop to workshop and see each stage demonstrated in person, which gives a vivid, hands-on sense of the depth and complexity behind even a single piece of Jingdezhen porcelain.
Beyond the process demonstrations, the garden also showcases some of the finest products of the contemporary Jingdezhen tradition, including wares made as diplomatic gifts and commissions for heads of state, which represent the highest level of the craft today. The blend of heritage workshops, refined finished pieces, and a pleasant garden setting makes the visit both educational and aesthetically rewarding, and the layout encourages visitors to slow down and engage with each craft in turn.
Mingfang Garden is best visited as a focused half-day outing, and it is especially rewarding for travelers who want a deeper, more structured understanding of how traditional porcelain is actually made, beyond what the larger museums and scenic areas can offer. Because the craft is demonstrated live, the experience is always a little different depending on which workshops are active, so allow time to linger and ask questions. For anyone serious about Chinese ceramics, craft heritage, or the living traditions of the Porcelain Capital, this garden is one of the most informative and inspiring stops in Jingdezhen.
