Dinglong Bay International Ocean Resort is a large coastal development in Wuchuan, about an hour's drive from downtown Zhanjiang, built around a sixteen-kilometer stretch of golden beach along the South China Sea. As a 4A national scenic area, it is one of the most ambitious resort projects in western Guangdong, pairing a long public coastline with hotel clusters, a water park, hot springs, and themed entertainment zones. For foreign travelers, it offers a convenient, low-friction beach base from which to explore the wider Zhanjiang coast.

The resort's centerpiece is its broad, well-groomed sand beach, backed by coconut palms and a sweeping seaside promenade. The Hai Zhijiao pier extends out over the water and has become the signature photo spot, especially at sunset when the wooden boards glow gold against the sea. Behind the beach, the master-planned zone mixes high-rise condominiums, family hotels, and pedestrian streets designed in a vaguely Mediterranean style, with cafes, ice-cream parlors, and live-music bars that stay open late into the evening.

Beyond the beach itself, Dinglong Bay packs in several paid attractions. The Texas-themed water park is the headline draw for families, with wave pools, water roller coasters, and multi-story slide towers, all run by international equipment suppliers. The Haitian hot springs tap geothermal water from deep underground, with pools ranging from steaming hot baths to ambient cool-down basins. Younger children tend to gravitate to the sea-lion show and the carnival rides of the cowboy-town zone.

Dinglong Bay works best as a two-day weekend stop rather than a day trip, since its scale makes a single visit feel rushed. International travelers should set expectations accordingly: this is a mass-market Chinese resort, busy during school holidays and Chinese New Year, and quieter on weekdays outside July and August. English is rarely spoken on-site, so a translation app is essential at ticket counters and restaurants. The upside is genuine value compared with Sanya or Xiamen, with comfortable beachfront accommodation, fresh seafood within walking distance, and some of the cleanest bathing water on the Guangdong coast. Bring swimwear, sunblock, and a sense of humor for the kitschier themed zones.
