The Fangchuan Scenic Area is a border-region landscape at the point where the territories of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and the Russian Federation meet, making it one of the most distinctive frontier destinations in the Yanji and wider Yanbian area. Rated as a national 4A tourist attraction and located near the city of Hunchun rather than in Yanji itself, it draws visitors primarily for the rare experience of seeing three countries at once from a single vantage point, an unusual piece of political geography visible in very few other places in Asia.

The scenic area's signature viewpoint is the Longhu Pavilion (Dragon and Tiger Pavilion), an elevated observation point from which, on a clear day, visitors can look out over the confluence of the regional river systems toward the territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Far East, and in the distance toward the Sea of Japan, which does not directly border China at this point but is close enough to be a meaningful geographic reference for the wider region. The layout of the viewing platform, with interpretive signs pointing out the borders and the names of the places visible on the horizon, makes the geopolitical character of the spot explicit, and most of the visitor experience is organized around that single panoramic view.

Beyond the view itself, the surrounding landscape of the lower river valley has its own quieter appeal, with wetlands, low forested hills, and riverbank walking paths that give the area a calmer, more natural atmosphere than the borderline alone might suggest. The mix of ecological and political geography is unusual, and for many visitors the natural setting is as much a part of the visit as the symbolic three-borders view, especially in the warmer months when the wetlands and riverbanks are at their most accessible.

A typical visit takes around two hours, with most of that time spent at the Longhu Pavilion and the immediate surrounding walking paths. Because the area sits at a sensitive border location, visitors should expect the access arrangements to be more controlled than at a standard scenic area, with entry formalities and identification checks that are normal for border zones in China.

Given its location some distance from Yanji, Fangchuan is best treated as a full-day trip from the city, often combined with other stops in the Hunchun area rather than visited on its own, and it appeals most to travelers interested in the geographic and frontier character of the Yanbian region.
