À propos de Source thermale « Muli Muwai »
Mulimuwai Hot Spring is a modern spa and bathhouse in Xining, designed as a one-stop leisure venue offering hot-spring soaking, saunas, massages, family leisure pools, and food service under one roof. As a year-round indoor facility, it offers a relaxing contrast to the high-altitude outdoor sightseeing that makes up most of a Xining-area itinerary, and is particularly popular with local families and with travelers looking to unwind after long days on the plateau.
The facility follows the standard layout of large Chinese urban hot-spring centers. The core is a series of pools of varying temperatures — typically ranging from warm to very hot — fed by geothermally heated mineral water, with separate male and female bathing zones for nude soaking and a shared family leisure area for clothed use. Around the pools are saunas, steam rooms, relaxation lounges, treatment rooms for massage and body scrubs, and food and drink counters. Some areas are themed — mineral-infused pools, herbal pools, salt saunas — and the overall design is closer to a modern Korean-style jjimjilbang or Japanese onsen resort than to a rustic outdoor hot spring.
For most independent foreign travelers, Mulimuwai is best treated as an evening or rest-day option rather than as a primary attraction. After a long day at Kumbum Monastery, Qinghai Lake, or any of the high-altitude sites around Xining, two or three hours of soaking in mineral water is genuinely restorative, and the leisurely pace of the experience makes a pleasant change from crowded sightseeing spots. The facility is also a useful option on rainy or cold days, when the plateau weather can be unforgiving.
Practicalities matter. Chinese hot-spring centers have specific etiquette around nude bathing, gender-segregated areas, and shared family zones, and signage is typically in Chinese only. Foreign visitors should bring swimwear for the shared areas, basic toiletries, and slip-on shoes; towels, robes, and lockers are normally provided. Mandarin is the working language.
Mulimuwai is not a destination to fly across China for, but as a rest stop on a longer Qinghai-Tibet itinerary, or as a quiet evening activity in Xining itself, it does what it sets out to do — and does it comfortably.
