À propos de Ancienne bourgade de Shuhe
Shuhe Ancient Town is a well-preserved historic settlement on the outskirts of Lijiang, recognized as a national 4A-rated scenic area and often described as a quieter counterpart to the busier Lijiang Old Town nearby. Like its larger neighbor, Shuhe grew up along the old Tea Horse Road trading routes and shares the same Naxi cultural roots, with a layout of stone streets, timber houses, and canals fed by mountain water running through the settlement.
The town center focuses on a small square and a network of lanes lined with traditional buildings, many now housing guesthouses, cafes, and craft shops, while retaining a more relaxed, residential feel than the busiest parts of Lijiang's main old town. A hillside area on the edge of town offers elevated views over the rooftops toward the surrounding mountains, and the streams that run through Shuhe create a similarly picturesque, water-threaded townscape on a smaller scale.
Visitors generally find Shuhe easier to explore unhurried, with fewer crowds than the main old town, making it a good choice for travelers who want to experience Naxi architecture and atmosphere at a gentler pace. A couple of hours is usually enough for a first visit, though those staying overnight in one of the town's guesthouses can enjoy the streets in the quieter early morning or evening light.
Given its proximity to central Lijiang, Shuhe Ancient Town is easy to combine with a visit to the main old town, either as a half-day side trip or as an alternative base for travelers seeking a calmer atmosphere while still being close to the city's other attractions.
