Parc à thème Luge de Dali

The Dali Luge Theme Park is a modern outdoor attraction tucked into the upper reaches of the Mocan Stream valley on the slopes of Cangshan, where a roughly five-kilometer spiral track winds down a vertical drop of about two hundred meters. Part of a newer wave of outdoor recreation offerings in the Dali region, the park blends gravity-powered luge runs with striking mountain scenery, offering an experience that stands apart from the more traditional Buddhist, Bai, and lake-focused itineraries.

The luge itself — a wheeled sled on a banked track, controlled by riders via a handbrake — is a familiar concept at mountain resorts around the world, but the setting here is distinctive. The track has been carved into the ridge above Longxiang Bridge, threading through pine and rhododendron forest with periodic openings that reveal sweeping views of the Erhai basin and the Cangshan peaks. The five-kilometer layout makes it one of the longer single-track luge experiences available in China.

Beyond the luge, the park frames itself as a "three-dimensional theater" for appreciating the Cangshan landscape, with viewing terraces, rest shelters, and a café set along the ridge. The design consciously references Bai mountain wisdom — terraced fields, water management, local stone — and combines it with the contemporary language of outdoor sport. The result is one of the more architecturally thoughtful small attractions in the Dali area.

For travelers, the park makes a good addition to a day on the Cangshan slopes, particularly for families or anyone who wants a break from temple-hopping and lake cruises. Sessions can be combined with a ride on the nearby Cangshan cable cars or a meal at one of the stream-side restaurants on the mountain's lower slopes. Comfortable closed-toe shoes, light layers, and a sense of adventure are the main prerequisites.
