The Yellow River Military Cultural Expo Park is located in the Binhe New Area east of Yinchuan, about 30 kilometers from the city center, and is one of the largest military-theme attractions in northwest China. Developed on a substantial site along the Yellow River flood line, the park is organized around a decommissioned PLA Navy destroyer named Yinchuan — a full-size warship permanently moored on the riverbank as the park's centerpiece and most distinctive sight.

The most memorable experience for most international visitors is boarding the destroyer itself. After being retired from active service, the ship was transported inland and installed on a foundation on the banks of the Yellow River, where it now serves as a walk-through museum ship. Visitors can explore the deck, bridge, gun mounts, and below-deck compartments, and the experience of standing on the deck of a real warship hundreds of kilometers from the sea — in the arid landscape of the Ningxia plain — is genuinely unique. An attached memorial hall uses photos, models, and displays to tell the story of the ship and of the broader Chinese naval modernization.

Around the destroyer, the park has been developed into a much larger military-culture complex. Themed zones cover ancient and modern Chinese military history, with displays of decommissioned equipment, scale models, interactive exhibits, and open plazas used for military-themed performances and education programs. A landmark arc-shaped landscape restaurant overlooks the main axis, and the central plaza serves as the venue for parades and ceremonial events. The design is intended to be as much a public-education and patriotic-culture venue as a tourist attraction.

For foreign visitors, the Yellow River Military Cultural Expo Park is best understood as a niche attraction that appeals to travelers with a specific interest in naval history, modern Chinese military culture, or unusual "only-in-China" experiences. It is easily combined with a trip along the Yellow River greenway east of Yinchuan, and it is a popular destination for Chinese families and school groups. The site is large and mostly outdoors, so plan for walking, bring sun protection in summer, and allow a half-day to see the destroyer, memorial hall, and main outdoor exhibits at a comfortable pace.
