It developed a unique martial system fusing Buddhist meditative stillness and Taoist breathing exercises, known for close-range strikes and footwork.
Emeishan martial arts encompasses a wide range of forms, known for close-range techniques, sharp leg work and using the opponent's force. Inner cultivation and outer forms are equally emphasised. Active schools on the mountain continue training and transmission today.
Emeishan martial arts represents Sichuan and southwestern Chinese martial culture. Its fusion of Buddhist and Taoist influences sets it apart in Chinese martial history and forms an important part of Emeishan's cultural identity.
