The nickname comes from the building's distinctive silhouette and the warm yellow lighting that washes its facade at night, which together give it a passing resemblance to an ear of corn. The form is actually inspired by the Songyue Pagoda, a sixth-century brick pagoda at Mount Song, a deliberate architectural reference that ties the building to Henan's deep cultural history even as its scale and engineering place it firmly in the twenty-first century. The view is the main event. From the glass-walled deck, visitors look straight down into the rounded ring of skyscrapers that form the CBD's signature inner ring.
