Baibingyuan
Đợt 1Baibingyuan's cake-making lineage reaches back to a 1930s family bakery in Dongdai, Lianjiang. The craft passed through three generations before growing in Fuzhou into a homegrown brand devoted to traditional Min-style pastries.
Baibingyuan is best known for Fuzhou libing, the rich, sweet 'gift cake' essential at Fujian weddings and celebrations, which has been named among Fuzhou's ten famous snacks and is a popular souvenir for visitors around the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys.
The house keeps to hand-made methods: its libing folds candied wax-gourd, fatback, scallion, peanut, sesame and seasonal nuts into a tender filling under a flaky crust, while it also makes fried-rice candy, qima crisps and stove-festival cakes.
One of the most prolific local makers of traditional pastry in the Fuzhou region, Baibingyuan keeps shops including one on Nanhou Street in the Gulou district.
