Đảo Quế Sơn

Guishan Island is one of the principal islands of the Wanshan Archipelago off the coast of Zhuhai, a small island settlement reachable by ferry from the mainland and known primarily for its fishing-village atmosphere, its role in the region's maritime history, and the quieter pace of life it offers compared with the developed Zhuhai waterfront. The island has a more permanent, lived-in feel than some of its neighbors, with a functioning fishing community rather than a purely tourist-oriented settlement.

The island's shoreline and small harbor are the principal focus of a visit, with seafood restaurants serving the daily catch, coastal paths leading to viewpoints over the surrounding sea, and a handful of small monuments and historical markers connected to the island's twentieth-century naval history. The surrounding waters are part of the estuary landscape that defines the whole Zhuhai coast, with views that take in neighboring islands and, on clear days, the broader sweep of the Pearl River mouth. The island's compact scale means a visit unfolds at walking pace, with little need for transport once ashore.

For foreign visitors, Guishan Island is best suited to travelers who have already explored the more accessible islands in the archipelago — such as Dong'ao or Wai Lingding — and want to see a quieter, more working-a-day corner of the Wanshan chain, or to those assembling a slower island-hopping itinerary. A day trip from Zhuhai is feasible, though the island rewards an overnight stay for visitors who want to experience the quiet of the harbor after the day's ferries have departed. As with all the islands in the chain, ferry service depends on weather and sea conditions, particularly during the typhoon season.
