Zhengzhou Haichang Ocean Park is a large marine-life theme park in Zhongmu County, on the eastern fringe of greater Zhengzhou, operated by the Haichang Ocean Park group under its broader ocean-plus strategy of pairing animal exhibits with strong IP collaborations. As a 4A national scenic area, it is one of the most ambitious family attractions to open in Henan in recent years, with a strong focus on immersive theming, marine exhibits, and family entertainment. For foreign travelers with children, it is a reliable single-day option within easy reach of Zhengzhou.

The park covers more than 425,000 square meters and is organized into themed zones that mix aquarium-style exhibits, animal performance venues, family rides, and immersive walk-through environments. The marine exhibits are the heart of the experience, with large tanks housing beluga whales, sea lions, penguins, jellyfish, and a wide range of reef fish and pelagic species. Underwater tunnels and floor-to-ceiling viewing panels let visitors get close to the animals, and daily feeding and training sessions are scheduled through the day at the main show pools.

The IP collaborations set the park apart from its competitors. Haichang has built a particularly deep partnership around the Ultraman franchise, with a themed zone, character meet-and-greets, and a dedicated stage show built around the Japanese sci-fi hero. Other themed lands draw on Chinese mythology and global marine legends, and seasonal events layer in additional characters, decorations, and limited-time shows. The park's two themed hotels, one marine-themed and one Ultraman-themed, extend the experience for families who want to stay overnight.

Beyond the exhibits, the park offers a full set of family rides, including a roller coaster, a drop tower, a carousel, and water-play zones sized for children. Themed restaurants and snack stands serve kid-friendly food, and well-equipped family restrooms, nursing rooms, and shaded rest areas are scattered through the grounds.

Independent visits work best with a little advance planning. The park is roughly an hour's drive from downtown Zhengzhou and is accessible by car, taxi, and shuttle bus. Tickets should be booked in advance, particularly during school holidays and Chinese public long weekends, when wait times for the most popular shows can climb past forty-five minutes. Wear comfortable shoes, pack a hat and sunscreen, and plan a route through the zones that takes in the marquee animal shows before younger family members run out of energy. Pairing the visit with a stay at one of the themed hotels turns a long day into a more relaxed two-day escape.
