Giới thiệu về Khu danh lam thắng cảnh Núi Mã Lăng
Malingshan Scenic Area is a quiet, forested low-mountain landscape at the southern edge of Xinyi, in the county-level city administered by greater Xuzhou, and a rewarding day trip for travelers who want to trade the city's Han Dynasty sites for a few hours of nature, lakeside walking, and unusual geology. Less famous than Jiangsu's classical garden cities, it is one of those scenic areas that locals love and most international visitors never hear about.
The range is a long, undulating line of low ridges broken by lakes, ravines, and dense bamboo groves, with red-tinged Danxia sandstone outcrops giving parts of the landscape a distinctive warm hue. Danxia is a recognized category of Chinese geomorphology, and although the formations here are smaller than the better-known Danxia sites in the northwest and south, they give Malingshan a striking character of their own, with caves, overhangs, and weathered rock pillars hidden among the trees.
A network of walking trails links the main scenic nodes, winding past small waterfalls, bamboo groves, lakeside pavilions, and Buddhist rock carvings. Boats operate on the larger lakes, offering a slower perspective on the forested ridges. The area is associated with the Qing dynasty Qianlong Emperor, who passed through on one of his southern inspection tours, and later pavilions and inscriptions commemorate his visit. The historical associations give the trails a literati dimension that rewards visitors who enjoy reading the carved poetry along the way.
Plan for a relaxed full-day excursion from Xuzhou, allowing time to walk the main circuit, take a boat ride, and linger over lunch at one of the small restaurants near the entrance. The scenic area is busiest on spring and autumn weekends, when local families arrive for picnics and hikes, and noticeably quieter midweek. Comfortable shoes, water, and a light layer are essential, as the trails involve some climbing and the weather shifts quickly in the hills.
For independent travelers, Malingshan is a useful reminder that the greater Xuzhou region has natural scenery as well as Han royal tombs. It is best paired with a visit to nearby Yaowan Ancient Town on the Grand Canal, turning a day away from the city into a satisfying loop of canal-side history, lakeside scenery, and quiet Danxia hills.
